Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. एवमुक्तः प्रत्युवाच स्त्रीभूतो राजसत्तमः ।
स्त्रियाः पुरुषसंयोगे प्रीतिरभ्यधिका सदा ।
एतस्मात्कारणाच्छक्र स्त्रीत्वमेव वृणोम्यहम् ॥ ४७ ॥

striyāḥ puruṣasaṃyoge prītirabhyadhikā sadā |
