Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ते मे वेदा हृताश्चक्षुरन्धो जातोऽस्मि जागृहि ।
ददस्व चक्षुषी मह्यं प्रियोऽहं ते प्रियोऽसि मे ॥ ४२ ॥

te me vedā hṛtāścakṣurandho jāto'smi jāgṛhi |
dadasva cakṣuṣī mahyaṃ priyo'haṃ te priyo'si me || 42 ||
