Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. ततो भीष्मनिहन्ता तं सह सर्वैः प्रभद्रकैः ।
अहनत्सर्वतो वीरं नानाप्रहरणैर्बली ।
शिलीमुखेन चाप्येनं भ्रुवोर्मध्ये समार्दयत् ॥ ५९ ॥
