tadeva vākyamāha śrībhagavānuvāca kuta iti | kuto hetostvā tvāṃ viṣame saṅkaṭe idaṃ kuśalaṃ samupasthitamayaṃ mohaḥ prāptaḥ, yata āryairasevitam | asvargyamadharmyamayaśaskaraṃ ca ||2||

The Gūḍhārthadīpikā commentary by Madhusūdana

tadeva bhagavato vākyamavatārayati kutastveti |

aiśvaryasya samagrasya dharmasya yaśasaḥ śriyaḥ |
vairāgyasyātha mokṣasya ṣaṇṇāṃ bhaga itīṅganā || [ViP 6.74]

samagasyeti pratyekaṃ sambandhaḥ | mokṣasyeti tatsādhanasya jñānasya | iṅganā saṃjñā | etādṛśaṃ samagramaiśvaryādikaṃ nityamapratibandhena yatra vartate sa bhagavān | nityayoge matup | tathā

utpattiṃ ca vināśaṃ ca bhūtānāmāgatiṃ gatim |
vetti vidyāmavidyāṃ ca sa vācyo bhagavāniti || [ViP 6.78]

atra bhūtānāmiti pratyekaṃ sambadhyate | utpattivināśaśabdau tatkāraṇasyāpyupalakṣakau | āgatigatī āgaminyau sampadāpadau | etādṛśo bhagavacchabdārthaḥ śrīvāsudeva eva paryavasita iti tathocyate |

idaṃ svadharmātparāṅmukhatvaṃ kṛpāvyāmohāśrupātādipuraḥsaraṃ kaśmalaṃ śiṣṭagarhitatvena malinaṃ viṣame sabhaye sthāne tvā tvāṃ sarvakṣatriyapravaraṃ kuto hetoḥ samupasthitaṃ prāptam ? kiṃ mokṣecchātaḥ ? kiṃ svargecchātaḥ ? iti kiṃśabdenākṣipyate | hetutrayamapi niṣedhati tribhirviśesaṇairuttarārdhena | āryairmumukṣubhirna juṣṭamasevitam | svadharmairāśayaśuddhidvārā moksicchadbhirapakvakaṣāyairmumukṣubhiḥ kathaṃ svadharmastyājya ityarthaḥ | saṃnyāsādhikārī
tu pakvakaṣāyo'gre vakṣyate | asvargyaṃ svargahetudharmavirodhitvānna svargecchayā sevyam | akīrtikaraṃ kīrtyabhāvakaramapakīrtikaraṃ na kīrtīcchayā sevyam | tathā ca mokṣakāmaiḥ svargakāmaiḥ kīrtikāmaiśca varjanīyam | tatkāma eva tvaṃ sevasva ityaho anucitaṃ ceṣṭitaṃ taveti bhāvaḥ ||2||

kaśmalaṃ mohaḥ | viṣame'tra saṅgrāmasaṅkaṭe | kuto hetoḥ | upasthitaṃ tvāṃ prāptamabhūt | anāryajuṣṭaṃ supratiṣṭhitalokairasevitam | asvargyamakīrtikaramiti pāratrikaihikasukhapratikūlamityarthaḥ ||2||

The Gītābhūṣaṇa commentary by Baladeva

tadvākyamanuvadati śrībhagavāniti |

aiśvaryasya samagrasya dharmasya yaśasaḥ śriyaḥ |
vairāgyasyātha mokṣasya ṣaṇṇāṃ bhaga itīṅganā || [ViP 6.74]

iti parāśaroktaiśvaryādibhiḥ ṣaḍbhirnityaṃ viśiṣṭaḥ | samagrasyetyetatṣaṭsu yojyam | he arjuna ! idaṃ svadharmavaimukhyaṃ kaśmalaṃ śiṣṭanindyatvānmalinaṃ kuto hetostvāṃ kṣatriyacūḍāmaṇiṃ samupasthitamabhūt? viṣame yuddhasamaye | na ca mokṣāya svargāya kīrtaye vaitadyuddhavairāgyamityāha anāryeti | āryairmumukṣubhirna juṣṭaṃ sevitam | āryāḥ khalu hṛdviśuddhaye svadharmānācaranti | asvargyaṃ svargopalambhakadharmaviruddham | akīrtikaraṃ kīrtiviplāvakam ||2||
