This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 76.136

संपुष्पिता द्रुमलता कुसुमावकीर्णा आसेविता च द्विजसंघनिनादितेन ।
एवं पि मह्यं हृदयं प्रीतिसंकुसुमितं श्रुत्वान पुत्रं मम सर्वगुणोपपेतं ॥ १३६ ॥

saṃpuṣpitā drumalatā kusumāvakīrṇā āsevitā ca dvijasaṃghanināditena |
evaṃ pi mahyaṃ hṛdayaṃ prītisaṃkusumitaṃ śrutvāna putraṃ mama sarvaguṇopapetaṃ || 136 ||

“The blossoming trees in their garb of flowers are the haunt of flocks of twittering birds. So, too, my heart is glad and blooming, since I have heard that my son is endowed with all good qualities.’” (136)
