This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.187

यथा महन्ते प्रपतितो पीह कूपे जात्यन्धसत्वो यथ स्पन्दमानो ।
अक्षी संप्राप्तो दिशम् अप्रजानो तथा तव भेष्यति मार सैन्यं ॥ १८७ ॥

yathā mahante prapatito pīha kūpe jātyandhasatvo yatha spandamāno |
akṣī saṃprāpto diśam aprajāno tathā tava bheṣyati māra sainyaṃ || 187 ||

“As a man blind from birth reels along without vision, ignorant of direction, and falls into a large hole, so, O Mara, will it be with thy army. (187)
