This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.188

पश्याहि त्वं तात ते देवपुत्रां रूपेणुपेता कृतपुण्यकर्मां ।
चूर्णां गृहेत्वा वरचन्दनस्य उदग्रचित्ता अभिकिरे बोधिसत्वं ॥ १८८ ॥

paśyāhi tvaṃ tāta te devaputrāṃ rūpeṇupetā kṛtapuṇyakarmāṃ |
cūrṇāṃ gṛhetvā varacandanasya udagracittā abhikire bodhisatvaṃ || 188 ||

“Behold, father, how these devas, comely of form and meritorious of karma, exultantly besprinkled the Bodhisattva with powder of fair sandalwood. (188)
