This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 20.28

चतुरंगिनी च सेना सशूलनाराचतोमरविचित्रा ।
परिवारयतां चपलं शतरश्मिमनोज्ञसंघातं ॥ २८ ॥

caturaṃginī ca senā saśūlanārācatomaravicitrā |
parivārayatāṃ capalaṃ śataraśmimanojñasaṃghātaṃ || 28 ||

All was done as the king had commanded; and when they had made all things ready, his courtiers approached the king and said, (28)
