This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 20.27

ओसक्तपट्टदामं शतरश्मिं शोभतां चपलम् एव ।
वरहेमजालच्छन्नं सुमेरुवरशृंगसंकाशं ॥ २७ ॥

osaktapaṭṭadāmaṃ śataraśmiṃ śobhatāṃ capalam eva |
varahemajālacchannaṃ sumeruvaraśṛṃgasaṃkāśaṃ || 27 ||

“Let an entire army, bristling with spears, arrows and lances, at once stand guard over Shatarashmi’s stately pile.” (27)
