This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 18.3

परपुरुषचरितकुशलानि वेत्ति तत् पंचमं बलं च ।
कर्मबलं प्रतिजानन्ति शुभाशुभं तद् बलं षष्ठं ॥ ३ ॥

parapuruṣacaritakuśalāni vetti tat paṃcamaṃ balaṃ ca |
karmabalaṃ pratijānanti śubhāśubhaṃ tad balaṃ ṣaṣṭhaṃ || 3 ||

He knows the merits of the conduct of other men. This is the fifth power. He knows the good and bad force of karma. This is the sixth power. (3)
