The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

प्राप्तावावां तृतीयेऽह्नि षण्डषण्डकमण्डितम् ।
जङ्गलं जनविच्छेदविभक्तं खमिवाकृतम् ॥ ८ ॥

prāptāvāvāṃ tṛtīye'hni ṣaṇḍaṣaṇḍakamaṇḍitam |
jaṅgalaṃ janavicchedavibhaktaṃ khamivākṛtam || 8 ||

On the third we came to a jungle full of gigantic woods and trees, which for want of human habitation, seemed to have divided the empire of heaven between themselves.
