The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

नैर्घृण्यमस्थैर्यमथाशुचित्वं रथ्याचरत्वं परिकुत्सितत्वम् ।
श्वभ्यो गृहीतं किमु नाम मूर्खैमूर्खेभ्य एवाथ शुना न जाने ॥ ५४ ॥

nairghṛṇyamasthairyamathāśucitvaṃ rathyācaratvaṃ parikutsitatvam |
śvabhyo gṛhītaṃ kimu nāma mūrkhaimūrkhebhya evātha śunā na jāne || 54 ||

Ignorant people are as dogs, in their unsteadiness, impudence, in their impurity and wayfaringness; hence I know not whether the ignorant have derived their nature from dogs or these from them.
