The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

ददर्शात्मबलं रिक्तं बलवद्रिपुमण्डलम् ।
गर्जन्तं च लयाकृत्या भीमं युद्धोद्धतार्णवम् ॥ ९ ॥

dadarśātmabalaṃ riktaṃ balavadripumaṇḍalam |
garjantaṃ ca layākṛtyā bhīmaṃ yuddhoddhatārṇavam || 9 ||

He saw the thinness of his own army, and the strong armament of his enemies all around; and heard their loud clamour all about, like the wild roar of the surrounding sea.
