The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.111.8

चतुरङ्गेण महता सैन्येन परिवारितः ।
अट्टालवलयात्कृच्छ्रान्निर्गत्य नगराद्बहिः ॥ ८ ॥

caturaṅgeṇa mahatā sainyena parivāritaḥ |
aṭṭālavalayātkṛcchrānnirgatya nagarādbahiḥ || 8 ||

Being then followed by his fourfold forces (composed of horse, elephants, war-cars and foot soldiers); he then rushed out of the confines of his city of palaces, and marched to the open fields lying out of the town.
