The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.79.9

अरण्यशून्यमेवासीत्तद्ब्रह्ममननं तदा ।
कठिनाकाण्डविध्वस्तं पृथिव्यामिव पत्तनम् ॥ ९ ॥

araṇyaśūnyamevāsīttadbrahmamananaṃ tadā |
kaṭhinākāṇḍavidhvastaṃ pṛthivyāmiva pattanam || 9 ||

Then the whole creation, which is but the ectype of the mind of Brahma; appeared as void as an empty desert to me; and as the earth turning to a barren waste upon the ruin of its cities.
