The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यथावर्तैः पयो भाति धूमो भाति यथा घनः ।
तथा जडात्मकतया तृतीयः सर्ग एतयोः ॥ १६ ॥

yathāvartaiḥ payo bhāti dhūmo bhāti yathā ghanaḥ |
tathā jaḍātmakatayā tṛtīyaḥ sarga etayoḥ || 16 ||

As the moving sands appear as water (in the mirage of the desert), and as the distant smoke seems as a gathering clouds to the deluded; so doth this world appear to them as a gross object of creation, and a third thing beside the Divine spirit and Mind.
