The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

दारुणि क्रकचच्छेदे यथावर्तादिकं तथा ।
अदिगादौ परे सर्गस्तदतद्रूपवानयम् ॥ १७ ॥

dāruṇi krakacacchede yathāvartādikaṃ tathā |
adigādau pare sargastadatadrūpavānayam || 17 ||

As the wood pared by the saw appear as separate blocks, and as the water divided by the winds has the appearance of detached waves; so doth this creation in the Supreme spirit, seem to be something without and different from it.
