The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 5.70.14

जाग्रत्येव सुषुप्तस्थो यः करोति जगत्क्रियाम् ।
तं यन्त्रपुत्रकमिव नायाति सुखदुःखदृक् ॥ १४ ॥

jāgratyeva suṣuptastho yaḥ karoti jagatkriyām |
taṃ yantraputrakamiva nāyāti sukhaduḥkhadṛk || 14 ||

Whatever actions are done by the waking man, in his hypnotic state in this world, they do not recur to him with their good or evil results, anymore than a dancing puppet, to have the sense of any pleasure or pain in it.
