The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

यदा वा जातनिर्नष्टं क्रियां वस्तु करिष्यते ।
तदा रमेत लोकोऽयं मालां कृत्वा तडिद्गणैः ॥ ७३ ॥

yadā vā jātanirnaṣṭaṃ kriyāṃ vastu kariṣyate |
tadā rameta loko'yaṃ mālāṃ kṛtvā taḍidgaṇaiḥ || 73 ||

No substantial good can accrue to us from transitory mortal things;as no body can string together the transient flashes of lightning into a necklace.
