The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

नाभ्यनन्ददसौ भोगपूगं शुष्कमिव द्रुमम् ।
न चारमत कान्तासु मृगो लोकमहीष्विव ॥ ११ ॥

nābhyanandadasau bhogapūgaṃ śuṣkamiva drumam |
na cāramata kāntāsu mṛgo lokamahīṣviva || 11 ||

He took no delight in any object of enjoyment, nor felt any pleasure in the society of his consorts, all which he shunned as a stag shuns a withered tree, and the company of human beings.
