The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.3.38

तस्माच्चित्तविकल्पस्थपिशाचो बालकं यथा ।
विनिहन्त्येवमेषान्तर्द्रष्टारं दृश्यरूपिका ॥ ३८ ॥

tasmāccittavikalpasthapiśāco bālakaṃ yathā |
vinihantyevameṣāntardraṣṭāraṃ dṛśyarūpikā || 38 ||

But the visible objects relating to the option of the mind (i. e. which are desirable, to every one), are as baneful to their beholder, as an apparition is to a child.
