The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.19.21

भयाहारपरं दीनं दृष्टादृष्टाभिलाषि च ।
लोलबुद्धि वपुर्धत्ते बाल्यं दुःखाय केवलम् ॥ २१ ॥

bhayāhāraparaṃ dīnaṃ dṛṣṭādṛṣṭābhilāṣi ca |
lolabuddhi vapurdhatte bālyaṃ duḥkhāya kevalam || 21 ||

Boys are subject to fear and voracity; they are helpless but fond of every thing they have seen or heard, and equally fickle in their bodies and mind. Hence boyhood is a source of troubles only.
