[Sanskrit text for this chapter is available]

Īśvara said:

1. Thereafter, O great goddess, one should go to the north of Hiraṇyā to the celestial place granting Siddhis (miraculous powers) where Siddhas are great sages.

2. There are innumerable Liṅgas which are impossible to describe (or count). Out of them there are some more than hundred Liṅgas which are remembered as very excellent.

3. On the bank of Vajriṇī there are nineteen Liṅgas. On the bank of Nyaṅkumatī there are one thousand two hundred Liṅgas.

4. O beautiful lady, in the Svāyaṃbhuva Manvantara there were mainly sixty excellent Liṅgas on the bank of Kapilā.

5. The number of Liṅgas on the bank of Sarasvatī cannot be told (counted). Thus the garland of Liṅgas of five faces has been adorned.

6. It is stated that river Sarasvatī is of five channels in the Prabhāsa Kṣetra. By her, the Kṣetra extending to twelve Yojanas is divided.

7. The water that comes up in the wells (big and small) there is the water of Sarasvatī. Blessed are those who drink it.

8. Wherever one takes bath devoutly (in that region) one gets the benefit of having ablutions in Sarasvatī. There is no doubt about it.

9. What is called Sparśa-Liṅga (a Liṅga to be touched by hand) is well-known as Someśa. The digit of the Liṅgas in the Prabhāsa Kṣetra pertains to Śaṅkara.

10. If at any place a Liṅga at the centre of the Kṣetra is worshipped knowing (or in the belief) that it is Someśa, Lord Someśa becomes worshipped.
