This Sanskrit edition of the Moksopaya. It is a large philosophical text dealing with “the science of liberation”. Similar to the Yoga-vasistha in content, the Mokshopaya-shastra was likely its predecessor, said to contain 30,000 shlokas (metrical verses). One of the core philosophies of the texts teaches the non-existence of cognitive objects; while holding such a view leads to an attitude of dispassion towards worldly matters.

सम्प्राप्य कस्त्यजति नाम तदात्मतत्त्वं प्राप्यानुभूय च जहाति रसायनं कः ।
शाम्यन्ति येन सकलानि निरन्तराणि दुःखानि जन्ममृतिमोहमयानि राम ॥ २८ ॥

samprāpya kastyajati nāma tadātmatattvaṃ prāpyānubhūya ca jahāti rasāyanaṃ kaḥ |
śāmyanti yena sakalāni nirantarāṇi duḥkhāni janmamṛtimohamayāni rāma || 28 ||
