Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. द्वाराणि तस्या हि वदन्ति सन्तो बहुप्रकाराणि दुरावराणि ।
सत्यार्जवे ह्रीर्दमशौचविद्याः षण्मानमोहप्रतिबाधनानि ॥ ३२ ॥

dvārāṇi tasyā hi vadanti santo bahuprakārāṇi durāvarāṇi |
satyārjave hrīrdamaśaucavidyāḥ ṣaṇmānamohapratibādhanāni || 32 ||
