Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. भो भोः केऽत्राश्रमे सन्ति भृगोः शिष्या महात्मनः ।
द्रष्टुमिच्छे मुनिमहं तस्याचक्षत मामिति ॥ ४४ ॥

bho bhoḥ ke'trāśrame santi bhṛgoḥ śiṣyā mahātmanaḥ |
draṣṭumicche munimahaṃ tasyācakṣata māmiti || 44 ||
