Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. शृणु राजन्यथा राजा वीतहव्यो महायशाः ।
क्षत्रियः सन्पुनः प्राप्तो ब्राह्मण्यं लोकसत्कृतम् ॥ ५ ॥
