Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. तच्छूलं सात्वतो ह्याजौ निर्भिद्य निशितैः शरैः ।
चूर्णितं पातयामास मोहयन्निव माधवम् ।
ततोऽपरेण भल्लेन हृद्येनं समताडयत् ॥ २४ ॥

tacchūlaṃ sātvato hyājau nirbhidya niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ |
cūrṇitaṃ pātayāmāsa mohayanniva mādhavam |
tato'pareṇa bhallena hṛdyenaṃ samatāḍayat || 24 ||
