The Udanavarga is a collection of Sanskrit verses representing aphorisms attributed to the Buddha and his disciples. The Udanavarga resembles the Pali Dhammapada and Udana, yet it belong the ancient tradition of early Buddhism. Alternative titles: Udānavarga (उदानवर्ग).

न सन्ति नित्या मनुजेषु कामाः सन्ति त्व् अनित्याः कामिनो यत्र बद्धाः ।
तांस् तु प्रहाय ह्य् अपुनर् भवाय ह्य् अनागतं मृत्यु धेयं वदामि ॥ ८ ॥

na santi nityā manujeṣu kāmāḥ santi tv anityāḥ kāmino yatra baddhāḥ |
tāṃs tu prahāya hy apunar bhavāya hy anāgataṃ mṛtyu dheyaṃ vadāmi || 8 ||
