The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

गृहप्रवेशं प्रति यच्च मे भवानुवाच रामप्रभृतीन् निदर्शनम् ।
न ते प्रमाणं न हि धर्मनिश्चयेष्वलं प्रमाणाय परिक्षतव्रताः ॥ ६७ ॥

gṛhapraveśaṃ prati yacca me bhavānuvāca rāmaprabhṛtīn nidarśanam |
na te pramāṇaṃ na hi dharmaniścayeṣvalaṃ pramāṇāya parikṣatavratāḥ || 67 ||

'And as for what thou saidst to me in regard to my returning to my home, by alleging Rama and others as examples, they are no authority,—for in determining duty, how canst thou quote as authorities those who have broken their vows?
