The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 8.42

इतीह देव्याः परिदेविताश्रयं निशम्य वाष्पग्रथिताक्षरं वचः ।
अधोमुखः साश्रुकलः कृताञ्जलिः शनैरिदं छन्दक उत्तरं जगौ ॥ ४२ ॥

itīha devyāḥ paridevitāśrayaṃ niśamya vāṣpagrathitākṣaraṃ vacaḥ |
adhomukhaḥ sāśrukalaḥ kṛtāñjaliḥ śanairidaṃ chandaka uttaraṃ jagau || 42 ||

Having thus heard the queen's words, their syllables choked with tears and full of lament, slowly Chandaka uttered this answer, with his face bent down, his voice low with tears, and his hands clasped in supplication:
