The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 8.14

पुनः कुमारो विनिवृत्त इत्यथौ गवाक्षमालाः प्रतिपेदिरे ऽङ्गनाः ।
विविक्तपृष्ठं च निशम्य वाजिनं पुनर्गवाक्षाणि पिधाय चुक्रुशुः ॥ १४ ॥

punaḥ kumāro vinivṛtta ityathau gavākṣamālāḥ pratipedire 'ṅganāḥ |
viviktapṛṣṭhaṃ ca niśamya vājinaṃ punargavākṣāṇi pidhāya cukruśuḥ || 14 ||

Next the women crowded to the rows of windows, crying to one another, 'The prince has returned;' but having heard that his horse had an empty back, they closed the windows again and wailed aloud.
