The Buddha Carita (Saddharma-pundarika) by Asvaghosa a famous Sanskrit text revolving around the live and exploits of the Buddha. The Buddha Carita (Buddhacarita) is written in the style of a Kavya (or Mahakavya, epic poetry) and extant original Sanskrit text consists of roughly 1,000 metrical verses.

Verse 5.37

अथ मेरुगुरुर्गुरुं बभाषे यदि नास्ति क्रम एष नास्ति वार्यः ।
शरणाज्ज्वलनेन दह्यमानान्न हि निश्चिक्रमिषुं क्षमं ग्रहीतुम् ॥ ३७ ॥

atha merugururguruṃ babhāṣe yadi nāsti krama eṣa nāsti vāryaḥ |
śaraṇājjvalanena dahyamānānna hi niścikramiṣuṃ kṣamaṃ grahītum || 37 ||

Then he who was firm as Mount Meru addressed his father: 'If this is impossible, then this course of mine is not to be hindered; it is not right to lay hold of one who would escape from a house that is on fire.
