This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 67.92

शक्तुभक्षा जनपदा नित्यं कम्बलप्रावृता ।
लूहभुक्ता लूहकर्मा कथं मार्गं गमिष्यसि ॥ ९२ ॥

śaktubhakṣā janapadā nityaṃ kambalaprāvṛtā |
lūhabhuktā lūhakarmā kathaṃ mārgaṃ gamiṣyasi || 92 ||

“There the country people feed on barley meal and are always clothed in blankets. Coarse is their food and coarse their behaviour. How will you fare on your way?” (92)
