This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 64.232

मैत्र्याविहारी करुणाविहारी सत्वान अर्थे चरितो बोधिचर्यां ।
बुद्धित्व बोधिं लभे बुद्धज्ञानं सत्वां प्रमोक्ष्याम्य् अहं कृष्णबन्धु ॥ २३२ ॥

maitryāvihārī karuṇāvihārī satvāna arthe carito bodhicaryāṃ |
buddhitva bodhiṃ labhe buddhajñānaṃ satvāṃ pramokṣyāmy ahaṃ kṛṣṇabandhu || 232 ||

“Abiding in love and in compassion, living the life that leads to enlightenment for the sake of men, when I have awakened to enlightenment I shall win a Buddha’s knowledge and I shall set men free. (232)
