This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 48.12

शुद्धोदनस्य किल राजकुलं नरेन्द्र मेघो समन्तं क्षणेन समाददन्तो ।
लोकत्रयं प्रबलतोयधरो सुघोषो विद्युत्प्रदीप विप्रद्योतयन्तो बहूनि ॥ १२ ॥

śuddhodanasya kila rājakulaṃ narendra megho samantaṃ kṣaṇena samādadanto |
lokatrayaṃ prabalatoyadharo sughoṣo vidyutpradīpa vipradyotayanto bahūni || 12 ||

“For, O lord of men, in a moment a cloud engulfed Shuddhodana’s palace all around, and a flash of lightning accompanied by thunder and a downpour of rain, repeatedly lit up the three worlds. (12)
