This is the Sanskrit Mahavastu: a lengthy work on Buddhist teachings and narratives belonging to the school of early Buddhism (Mahasanghika). This edition only includes those metrical verses occuring in the various stories and Jatakas, as well as the corresponding English translation by J. J. Jones.

Verse 42.10

माता पिता भगिनी भ्रातरो च ये चापि ज्ञातयो अनन्यपक्षिका ।
चराम धर्मं परलोकहेतोः तस्मा हि अस्माद् दहरो न मृय्यति ॥ १० ॥

mātā pitā bhaginī bhrātaro ca ye cāpi jñātayo ananyapakṣikā |
carāma dharmaṃ paralokahetoḥ tasmā hi asmād daharo na mṛyyati || 10 ||

Mother and father, sister and brother, and loyal kinsman, we live in accordance with dharma for the sake of winning heaven. Therefore it is that none of us dies young. (10)
