The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.157.21

प्रथमात्यन्तबहुभिर्भवैश्चेऽन्मोक्षगामिनी ।
जातिस्तत्प्रोच्यते तज्ज्ञैः सद्भिस्तामसतामसी ॥ २१ ॥

prathamātyantabahubhirbhavaiśce'nmokṣagāminī |
jātistatprocyate tajjñaiḥ sadbhistāmasatāmasī || 21 ||

Those souls which have been undergoing their repeated regenerations, ever since the beginning of creation; and are continually roving in the bodies of inferior beings, are said by the wise, to belong to the species of the most impure tamasa tamasi; though it is possible from them to attain their salvation at last.
