The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

तन्मात्रवेदनं भूयः पृथ्व्यादीनां च कारणम् ।
किमस्ति कथ्यतां छाया कथमास्ते वदातपे ॥ ६४ ॥

tanmātravedanaṃ bhūyaḥ pṛthvyādīnāṃ ca kāraṇam |
kimasti kathyatāṃ chāyā kathamāste vadātape || 64 ||

The knowledge of God alone as the sole cause, and yet acknowledging the causality of the earth and other elements; is as absurd as to say that, the sun shines and yet it is dark.
