The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

स्फुरन्ति नागाः पाताले तिष्ठन्ति भुवि पर्वताः ।
आपश्छलछलायन्ते वहन्ति व्योम्नि वायवः ॥ ४ ॥

sphuranti nāgāḥ pātāle tiṣṭhanti bhuvi parvatāḥ |
āpaśchalachalāyante vahanti vyomni vāyavaḥ || 4 ||

There are the snakes and reptiles, living in and moving about the bowels of the earth; and there are huge rocks deeply rooted in the subterranean cell; the waters are running within the bosom of the ground, with as much freedom as the winds are flying all about the open air.
