The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 7.47.27

पूर्वं संसृतिवैरस्यमन्तरेवोदितात्मनः ।
जायते जीर्णजाड्यस्य पाकादिव शरत्तरोः ॥ २७ ॥

pūrvaṃ saṃsṛtivairasyamantarevoditātmanaḥ |
jāyate jīrṇajāḍyasya pākādiva śarattaroḥ || 27 ||

The holy man whose soul is raised and enlightened in time, feels his former enjoyments to become as dull and insipid to him, as a luxuriant tree becomes dry and withered in autumn.
