The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीराम उवाच ।
भिक्षुसंकल्परूपास्ते जीवटब्राह्मणादयः ।
कथं सत्यत्वमायाताः संकल्पार्थे क्व सत्यता ॥ ९ ॥

śrīrāma uvāca |
bhikṣusaṃkalparūpāste jīvaṭabrāhmaṇādayaḥ |
kathaṃ satyatvamāyātāḥ saṃkalpārthe kva satyatā || 9 ||

Rama rejoined:—All those forms of Jivata and others, being but creations of the empty imagination of the mendicant; I cannot understand, how they could be beings, as there is no substantiality in imaginary things.
