The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
अथ दुःखपरीतात्मा हरिणा हतदानवे ।
प्रह्लादश्चिन्तयामास मौनी पातालकोटरे ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca |
atha duḥkhaparītātmā hariṇā hatadānave |
prahlādaścintayāmāsa maunī pātālakoṭare || 1 ||

Vasishtha continued:—Prahlada remained disconsolate in his subterranean region, brooding over the melancholy thoughts of the destruction of the Danavas and their habitations.
