The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 4.56.23

औष्ण्येन्दौ शीतले भानौ मृगतृष्णाजले तथा ।
यथा न भावयस्यास्थामेवं भावय मा स्थितौ ॥ २३ ॥

auṣṇyendau śītale bhānau mṛgatṛṣṇājale tathā |
yathā na bhāvayasyāsthāmevaṃ bhāvaya mā sthitau || 23 ||

Never place your reliance on anything of this world, with that fond desire, as the heated man looks to the moon, the cold-stricken to the sun, and the thirsty doth to the water in the mirage.
