The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

कृष्णत्वहिंस्रतातैक्ष्ण्यव्याप्तास्यपवनाशनैः ।
यत्नात्पदं निबध्नन्ती रेण्वणूपलसंकटे ॥ ९ ॥

kṛṣṇatvahiṃsratātaikṣṇyavyāptāsyapavanāśanaiḥ |
yatnātpadaṃ nibadhnantī reṇvaṇūpalasaṃkaṭe || 9 ||

The acute point of the black iron needle, firmly preserved its standing posture by penetrating the ground;while it fed itself upon the air, which it inhaled by its uplifted mouth.
