The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.70.32

अपि पुण्यशरीराणां जातिबन्धो न शाम्यति ।
तनुसूचीपिशाचीत्वं राक्षस्या तपसार्जितम् ॥ ३२ ॥

api puṇyaśarīrāṇāṃ jātibandho na śāmyati |
tanusūcīpiśācītvaṃ rākṣasyā tapasārjitam || 32 ||

Again men however good and great, can hardly get rid of their natural disposition; and it was for this reason that the great Rakshasi, performed her austere devotion, in order to become a vile pin for molesting mankind.
