The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.70.31

तुच्छोऽप्यर्थोऽल्पसत्त्वानां गच्छति प्रार्थनीयताम् ।
सूचीवृत्तपिशाचीत्वं राक्षस्या तपसा स्थितम् ॥ ३१ ॥

tuccho'pyartho'lpasattvānāṃ gacchati prārthanīyatām |
sūcīvṛttapiśācītvaṃ rākṣasyā tapasā sthitam || 31 ||

To men of little understanding, a slight business becomes an arduous task; as the foolish fiend had recourse to her austerities, in order to do the mean work of the needle.
