The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 3.7.28

तज्ज्ञातं ब्रह्मणो रूपं भवेन्नान्येन कर्मणा ।
दृश्यात्यन्ताभावतस्तु ऋते नान्या शुभा गतिः ॥ २८ ॥

tajjñātaṃ brahmaṇo rūpaṃ bhavennānyena karmaṇā |
dṛśyātyantābhāvatastu ṛte nānyā śubhā gatiḥ || 28 ||

It is the knowledge of Brahma that constitutes his form, or else there is no act of his whereby he may be known to us; (the universe being but a development of himself). He is entirely devoid of any visible form, and therefore there is no better course for any one than to know him as truth.
