The Sanskrit edition of the Yoga-vasistha including English translation and grammatical analysis. The Yogavasistha is a Hindu spiritual text written by Valmiki (who also authored the Ramayana) dealing with the philosophical topics from the Advaita-vedanta school. Chronologically it precedes the Ramayana.

Verse 1.3.24

इति संप्रार्थितो राजा वसिष्ठेन समं तदा ।
विचार्यामुञ्चदेवैनं रामं प्रथममर्थिनम् ॥ २४ ॥

iti saṃprārthito rājā vasiṣṭhena samaṃ tadā |
vicāryāmuñcadevainaṃ rāmaṃ prathamamarthinam || 24 ||

Thus solicited (by Rama), the king consulted with Vasishtha, and after much reflection granted him the first request he ever made.
