Consisting of 18 books, the Mahabharata details the history and legends concerning ancient India (Bharata), including a major battle campaign involving the Kauravas and the Pandavas, also known as the Kurukshetra War. यमश्च सोमश्च महर्षयश्च साध्या विश्वे वालखिल्याश्च सर्वे ।
एतेऽपि यस्योद्विजन्ते प्रभावात्कस्मात्तस्मान्मादृशी नोद्विजेत ॥ ३९ ॥

yamaśca somaśca maharṣayaśca sādhyā viśve vālakhilyāśca sarve |
ete'pi yasyodvijante prabhāvātkasmāttasmānmādṛśī nodvijeta || 39 ||
